Rockford’s Rock Opera: An Ecological Adventure Story

This is a unique adventure in sound designed for children and adults. With narration, sound effects, songs and videos, it's a totally new kind of musical experience.

Featuring and scripted by Steve Punt, a respected BBC writer and performer, Rockford’s Rock Opera is a story about animals, extinction and the effect man is having on the planet but it is a positive and hopeful story which is now enchanting children and adults across the world.

A boy called Moog and his dog, Rockford, arrive on the mystical Island of Infinity, home to the last one of every extinct animal species. Here beneath a mystical swirling sky, live the world's lost creatures. And each of the creatures has a secret for the world.  For more information visit www.rockfordsrockopera.com

Previewing Rockford’s Rock Opera, TV Presenter, Children’s educational champion and founder of Children’s Radio Station, Fun Radio, Susan Stranks, said;

“This extraordinary story spreads a most important modern message in a most mysterious and magical way.
”Rockford's Rock Opera” has been created and produced with love, passion and great skill and will endure as a classic to be enjoyed by the world's children and grown-ups for generations to come.”

Crucially the Rockford website also includes details of the ecological and extinction issues that are central to the story together with engaging lesson plans about animals and the environment that are fast becoming a valued resource in schools and are designed to fit with the National Curriculum Key Stage 2 Year 3 to the end of Year 6 (aged 7-11) along with activities and details of the charities that the authors are working with in related areas such as Buglife for the conservation of insects and invertebrates, Guide Dogs for the Blind, The World Wildlife Fund, and of course, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home which is where Rockford the Dog comes from.
Rockford's Rock Opera is not the creation of a global entertainment company.  It is the work of award winning charitable entrepreneurs, 'Sweetapple' known for their original ideas, campaigns, products and promotions for charitable causes and the benefit of society as a whole. Launched in December 2007, Rockford has already been heard by over 50,000 people and is being used in over 3,500 schools as a basis for teaching about extinction and the environment. 20% of all profits from Rockford’s Rock Opera will go to animal welfare and ecological charities.
